Cancellation of Fortnite World Cup 2020 leaves a conspicuous void in the competitive calendar.
Well the cancellation of the Fortnite World Cup 2020 in-person event comes as no surprise but canceling it outright and announcing other Fortnite events will move online is heartbreaking. Don’t know what more will get canceled due to this pandemic.
Last month we said we would provide our evolving 2020 competitive roadmap. Today we wanted to provide updates on where we’re at with plans in 2020!

Why Is The Fortnite World Cup 2020 Not Hosted Online?
Due to cross-region limitation hosting internet-based tournaments would have been impractical, said the company.
Will We See In Person The Fortnite World Cup Event In 2021?
Looking at the things around, no one can make a promise. However, Epic knows one thing due to the uncertainty around pandemic returning to significant in-person events is not going to happen anytime soon. But the company isn’t giving up the concept. Epic hopes to host the Fortnite World Cup competition for 2021.
Will Epic broadcast anything online?
Starting this season Epic will return to doing official broadcasts for the Fortnite Champion Series (FNCS). The first competition will begin on May 2nd at 1 PM ET on Fortnite’s YouTube channel and Twitch.
Along with this, there will be regular Cash Cups and other third-party events.
This shows the coronavirus pandemic is not only affecting our lives but is also affecting businesses. Already several tech and video game events have been canceled, and the cancellation of Fortnite World Cup, an event which was a significant success for Epic Games and esports come as a shock.
Last year’s event had 19,000 attendees, & 2.3 million viewers tuned in to watch the event streamed. This year the company had high hopes, but no one knew that there wouldn’t be an event.
Also, it seems we will not be able to have the remaining scheduled events from the video game industry. If the gaming industry wants to keep the user base they will need to switch to an online format; otherwise, there will be more cancellation, and we will miss out on all that we like until and unless it is made online.
