Fixing The Pesky Windows 10 Error Message

According to recent reports, some Windows laptop / tablet devices (also known as 2-in-1s) owners are receiving a confusing error message.

The message mostly appears when Windows 10 attempts to install the Creators Update. It is the most recent major upgrade to the operating system.

When users try to download installation files for the update, it refuses to install and displays a message saying:

Windows 10 is no longer supported on this PC. Uninstall this app now because it isn’t compatible with Windows 10.

windows 10 error message

This is both worrying and confusing, as Windows 10 was offered as a free upgrade for a lot of 2-in-1s which originally came with Windows 8. So now when they have Windows 10 why are they getting this message.

Which Processors are not Compatible?

When we searched for an answer to it, we found a post on Microsoft answers site posted in April which shows that devices with Clover Trail processors aren’t compatible with the Creators Update. Also, “due to outdated driver, icons and text may not appear at all, or may appear as solid color blocks on devices containing these processors.”

Clover Trail is the codename for certain Intel Atom processors. Specifically, the Z2760, Z2520, Z2560 and Z2580. These are not currently supported as they are low-power chips.

At the time, Microsoft said to be working with Acer, HP and other manufacturers to release compatible drivers, but there is no news till date.

Is it Mandate to Install the Update?

It is not mandatory to install the update. Also you can’t install it, if you are receiving the error message.

Don’t be worried as this will not impact functioning of your current version of Windows 10. You will continue to receive security updates until at least early 2018, and will be protected from malware attacks.

However, don’t just rely on it you should always have best antivirus package on your machine.

Also, you don’t have to uninstall any app as the message reads. It refer to the Creators Update itself, which hasn’t been installed. I agree that it is confusing, as how is it possible that Windows 10 isn’t compatible with itself.

We hope that soon there will be some fix to the problem.
