Apple’s Attempt to Educate Users About Privacy

Is Apple seriously working towards user’s privacy?

Over the last few years after repeated privacy breaches tech companies made clear that users’ privacy comes first. But their actions fail to show their commitment. It seems Apple is the only company doing walking the talk.

According to WHOIS record revealed by MacRumors Apple recently registered a domain named http://privacyisimportant.com/

Apple privacy

But if this true then why Facebook app is still available for download at the Appstore?

Plus, why is the company under the watchlist of Data Protection Commission for suspected violation of GDPR?

Is this a new trick or what?

We would like to know your thoughts about it.

How will Apple use it?

Currently, the domain name doesn’t point to an active website, it just displays a blank page. Therefore, it’s unclear if or how Apple will use it. Assumptions are Apple might use it for privacy focused marketing campaign along the lines of its “what happens on your iPhone, stays on your iPhone” billboard at CES 2019 in Las Vegas. Speaking of which a nasty Facetime bug was discovered just after that.

What exactly is Apple planning?

It is all a speculation. Speaking of which Apple plans to develop anti-snooping technology that would stop police forces from tracking smartphone user’s location and messages. At the same time Apple is rumored to launch its own video streaming subscription service along with newspaper and magazine subscription. This means lot of data, so Apple should stop having double standards.

Is Apple a safe haven for users?

We all know about social media giant Facebook and the fiasco created due to Cambridge Analytics. After looking at all this if you think big giants like Apple and Google are a safe haven then you are wrong. Apple too has violated the EU law and is on the list due to transparency issues. The same reason due to which Google was fined $57 million.
