COVID-19 is making everything worse. Due to it, people are socially distancing, economies are crashing, tech events are being canceled, etc. The only way to fight it is to stay connected.
Will Apple’s, new affordable iPhone SE 2020 answer the call?
Why did Apple release iPhone SE 2020 at a price down by $50?
Into this unsteady economy, there is no room for expensive phones and it seems Apple read the room. Therefore, unlike the OnePlus 8 series, Apple announced an affordable device – iPhone SE 2020 at $399 64GB storage.
If you think Apple is being considerate, you are wrong.
Analyst Carolina Milanesi sheds some light on it and makes clear that Apple launched this device to push lower-income iPhone users. This means the company is giving old iPhone users – iPhone 5 and 6 a chance to upgrade to a new device and are planning to get more Apple TV+ subscribers.
Further, in times like this when everyone is at home under self-quarantine or is social distancing connectivity matters. Old iPhones might not be able to handle current LTE networks. Therefore, there was a need for an inexpensive solution. And nothing can be better than an affordable iPhone.
Using this new device, you will not face any connectivity problem as you can use it either as a hotspot or as a primary device. This means even when at home everyone will be connected to school, work and entertainment.

Will we see any other affordable phones during this time?
Yes, for instance, Samsung A51, Moto GPower, TCL 10 5G will be there. But none of them will have a reputation like iPhone & they will be priced under $500.
This is the extra flair added by Apple. Instead of a low-end iPhone, now you have an affordable iPhone with 5G connectivity and the same processor like the iPhone 11 and Pro versions.
Is iPhone SE a cheaper version of the iPhone 6?
People are seeing it that way, but from where I see it, that’s not the case. iPhone SE has A13 Bionic chip, 5 hours longer battery life, 12 MP camera and more.

Will iPhone users get 5G connectivity?
2020 looks nothing like what was expected.
With depleting economies, rapidly growing pandemic all the assumptions, predictions made last year are proved erroneous. To make big profits and looking at the trend of 2019 Qualcomm launched an expensive Snapdragon 865 chipset, mandatory for 5G modem. Due to this Android’s phone price has increased by $100.
Assumptions were that people will want to use 5G and will invest in these devices but no longer this the case. As people are losing jobs and there are economic crises investing in a smartphone is not a great decision. Apple understood it & launched an inexpensive device. Not only this company knows during and post COVID-19 5G will play an important role. Keeping this in mind without compromising with technology Apple paired premium processors with slower components.
This means without paying a hefty price people will be able to use 5G to stay connected and watch virtual events. But as US carriers are not delivering benefits, we don’t know when we will have 5G applications. So, at this moment for some iPhone SE is the solution.
But how many will go for it? Won’t people want to wait and see what iPhone 12 has to offer? When 16 million jobs just disappeared will anyone be interested in buying an iPhone SE? Do you have an answer to all these questions?
Does Apple need to worry about them? Didn’t the company think any of this before launching iPhone SE?
